Taken today at Snettisham Caravan Park Pool.
Very obliging but most of the time the background was a mud bank.
Result was that the bill was lost.
D2x. 600mm AFS II + 1.4 conv.

Wow what a cracking image. Pin sharp - superb detail and I love the light on the water.

Excellent detail and beautiful lighting, however I would prefer it in landscape orientation to take in the ripples more fully.

What a lovely bird I hope to see one one day and then get the photo. Has this photo been cropped?

If the image had been cropped Craig I would clearly have stated as such.
Hope that answers your question.

Lovely image, Major. :toast: Only nit is that it seems to have a bit of noise - high iso ? I just can't imagine that these Red birds I saw on Svalbard in summer has turned in to something as grey as this

Can see what you mean now about the noise Helge, so checked what this was shot at and it was 250 iso. Had a Nikon slip in polarizer filter on the 600, so don't no if this has compounded the problem or not.
Didn't use any noise reduction at all.

Hi Major

Looks just a touch over-sharpened IMO with an halo around beak & 'jaggies' along the primary shafts. That said, I really like the pose, colours & light.

Hi Major,

Very nice image of a bird I'm yet to see. Colours are very good and I too see some noise. I don't always state that my posted image has been cropped. Perhaps I should

I was on the understanding now Graeme that we all should be doing so, but perhaps I am wrong.

Very nice image Major  Like David I would have also prefered a landscape orientation.
