This is a juvenile which I think is one of the real beauties in the Eagle-world. This big rarity for Scandinavia showed up in southern Sweden this weekend, and draw a lot of birder attention. Mostly it was seen far away. I was lucky to suddenly stumble upon it when it was resting in a tree in backyard away from all the birders
The bird is ringed, possible as a nestling of one of a few nesting Finnish pairs.
Lovely soft light, nice natural perch & a lofty viewpoint for a regal bird. Perhaps a bit more contrast?

Nice picture of a beautiful bird - I might have considered cloning the branch at the lower right.

Hi Helge,
Very nice comp and perch. Good shooting!! I'd like a bit more contrast too as it does look slightly flat on my badly calibrated (well, not calibrated at all!) monitor

great work, as usual, Helge. What colour space are you posting in, as this can influence on-screen appearance?
Love in Helge I actually think the branck bottom right adds a little balance and personally wouldnt get rid of it

What a bird! Image is fine for me given the circumstances. I'd get this off to all the birding mags now and it will make print in many of them I'm sure.

Hi Helge
Very nice indeed. Magnficant bird.
Yes it does look a trifle flat but I am sure you can do something about that one.

20D + 500/4 + tc1.4; iso400, 1/640, f7.1 exp.comp +1, cropped.
Processed from RAW with Canon (EOSviewerutility), and saved as jpg to preserve profile.
Looking at the result here it lacks punch (colorwise) compared to my screenversion
What a fine looking species and good on you for getting such a cracking shot.
You must have more rarities in your files than all the bird-watching forums put together
