Happy belated holidays.
We came back from Las Vegas via Bishop, and on the way were greeted with an awesome afternoon show of white light and fog on top of the mountains... Which at the same time made us realise that we made a big mistake not to return tothe bay area via the normal bakersfield/I15 route (we avoided it thinking it would be stop-and-go traffic).
We had to go all the way to Minden to pass the mountains via i88 under chain control, instead of tioga pass (which was open in the morning). The trip took 12 hours :(
Lesson learned: Listen to the weather report even if the weather looks great in Vegas :)
