when I finally purchase my first dslr (Sigma SD14 when it is available)? At the moment I am used to the live preview and swivelling lcd on my venerable Sony DSC F717. Would purchasing a Zigview S2 be a good substitute, whilst enjoying the advantages a dslr offers?

Hi David,
Nice simple picture, i think it might be a good idea to run a noise reduction action on it though, i have done it and it clears up very well.
Cheers
Brian
Ps have no idea about Zigview S2 sorry.
The SigView S2 is not a bad device and has a lot of potential, but for what it is I cannot feel that it is expensive ( especially since I have a intervalometer on my standard external shutter release)

Hi David
nice image just a little bit tight at the top IMHO

If you're interested in a SigView, I would test one out first. I think it may be quite useful if it copes with low light well. If you can use DOF preview inside/in low light at the smaller f-stops (f11 or 16) and still see a usable image, it would be great for macro and still life use. I've personally never found the need for such a device, and I don't even use my right angle viewfinder attachment.
Nice shot of the orchid- you could try noise reduction, as suggested above, or I would adjust the level of the background to make it pure black. You could also try diffusing the light (white pillowcase/sheet? over the whole plant, background and camera) to reduce the reflection from the glossy parts of the flower.

Thanks lads for your comments. I'll try the noise reduction next time. The lighting was deliberate to show the glossy texture of the pouch (labellum).
I'll wait till I purchase the Sigma SD14 before deciding on the Zigview S2.
