CA Fall - Autumn Elegance
Guys, I could not wait to post and ask my question on the ESS gallery, so Haha! I am here, even though I would have posted it here anyway!

Ok, I found this dell with Balck Oaks on the last day of my Yosemite Workshop two weeks ago. It was taken near sunset under lightly overcast skies. I like the dark trunk and branches against the vibrant yellow leaves - its what first caught my attention.

My question is regarding the crop. The first is very close to the full 4x5 tranny except a little bit taken off the top and right side and keeping the 4x5 format. The second one below it is in the 35mm crop with more taken off the left side only.

Which crop do you guys like best and why???

Shen-Hao 4x5, Nikon 150mm, Fuji Astia 100F

Here is the second crop.

Hi Youssef,

I love this tree! I 've sat under it many times. Both photos are really nice. I prefer the more open version. I think that the nice curves of the branches and the spreading crown need 'room to grow', as it were. You did mention that you cropped the top a bit, but again I think the crown needs more room. I love the color and serene feel. Well done!

I agree it's a tough call, but I think Preston addressed what I was feeling as well.

Same here, I like the first version more.

I also prefer the first, along the same lines as Preston. I like the image. Nice tree. I think I know just where it is. I was shooting in that area over Thanksgiving.
