Lenticular Cloud over Carson Pass
Driving over Carson Pass in California, on the way to the Eastern Sierra in October, I drove pass this landscape. These Lenticular clouds, made up of ice crystals form over mountains in really high elevations. They, like this one often imitate the mountain topography.

If only it was later in the day with some alpenglow!

Nikon D200, Nikon 28-70 ; Polarized/ tripod I think about 1/25th at F8 ( ISO 100)

Nice colors. I don't think I've ever seen a day in the sierras w/o some clouds.

I like the repeated pattern of the clouds and the mountains, Jack. Great contrasting colors.
