Great Tit
Common as muck, but I liked the pose this guy struck for the camera! I took this at my feeding station this weekend as a test shot during the only hour of sunshine I've seen for the last two weeks here in Lancaster.

It has to be said that the weather here has been rather frustrating recently. On the promise of 'sunny intervals' from the Met office for last Friday I took a day off work to go to my hide and take some photos. Needless to say the sky was black and it rained heavily for three hours. Even with the lens wide open at high ISO it was pointless even trying to shoot. I had to sit there trying to stay dry and watch as a whole range of bird species came and went, including a Jay that almost seemed to be mocking me. I suppose that's just the way it goes somtimes!...

Nice image - my only minor nits would be it looks slightly dark around the eye to me and maybe slightly central in the frame. One I would be pleased to have however

It may have been the only hour of sunshine you have had for while but you used to to good advantage.

I really like the autumnal colours and the detail you have captured in the subject. It's pose, with its "cheeky" leg position IMO is excellent.

Yes the area around the eye is a little dark but there is sufficient detail and at least the cheeks are not burned out.

I like this very much Paul, the bg complements the bird well but may be a little busy as it seems to attract my eye away from the subject.

Hi Paul,

Great shot! The central placement does not bother me that much. I would indeed try to lighten up the darker part of it's face a bit.
Well done!
