Nature's Way
Hi All, I'm finally back. I spent 64 days almost entirely in the wilds but the camera gear survived (well, except the tripod). Lot's of new images as you might imagine (about eleven thousand actually) and I look forward to purusing the archives and seeing what you all have been up too. Floods out here were making front-page news in Canada for a while so I'm glad to have misssed that! Now it's snowing....which is nothing new to me at this point! I'm heading for Hood tomorrow and Wednesday. I've been back for 3 days now and that's simply too much time indoors I guess.

Anyway, this one is a very NW like forest in Glacier NP., Montana. The image features a mostly Hemlock forest on a flood-plain near McDonald Creek. It's simply not always about the big and dramatic and my images from the last few months will depict nature's beauty in a variety of ways. Hope you like it.

I love this - great elements used to make a image that you can sit and soak in...... 11K image eh ? How did you back them up ?? That's more than 30 CF cards full......

Welcome back Marc! Nice capture you have here! Plenty to soak in indeed. And the use of the crossed logs in the foreground does a nice job of anchoring the image.

Well done!!

I really like the darker tones here. It gives me that eerie feeling just at dusk when I'm in the forest by myself. Almost to a point where I would momentarily get the heebie jeebies  . Now that's getting your point across!

The foilage on the ground hides the clutter which would have ruined the image. I would say this is a keeper. Nice to have you back. I'm looking forward to more!

Welcome back & post often! I look forward to checking this out on a good monitor. Even under poor viewing conditions it looks like a really nice rhythm of light in the groundstory foliage, and great subtle backlighting (from an open spot?) behind the tree trunks.

Hi Marc,

Good to see you back from your trip A-OK. This is a nice, quiet scene. A future calendar shot  ?
