I assume this pose doesn't work that well? But I have nothing else  Shame really as the BG is nice and the perch for a change is not overpowering. Unfortunately, this didn't move in the slightest, so this was the only angle achievable. Worth posting or avoid front on shots altogether?

This is cropped to about 25% of the full image, so I don't really mind ditching it

Thanks for comments on my previous upload.

As you say Graeme, excellent BG and perch is clean too. The detail retained in the shot considering the crop is superb. Unfortunately the pose and angle just doesn't work for me. (and you by the sound).

If it is possible to get another shot at this perch it will be well worth it.

It's alright though I'd up the saturation as shown.

Hi Graeme

Nice shot, well composed in good light with a good BG. Yes you may have preferred a side on image but as wildlife photographers we should try to a achieve a range of images of each species we shoot. Using this yard stick there is nothing to nit as it is a fine image, that said I do prefer Tim's more saturated post!

Thanks for the comments guys. I too like Tim's version better. I seem to err on the side of caution with my images and tend not to saturate enough for the risk of it looking over saturated. Yet another lesson learnt hopefully. Thanks Tim.

I find this image perfectly acceptable too, a good clean portrait of a much loved and colourful bird, but do think that Tim's repost does show the colours more accurately
