I generally buy all my equipment new but i might be able to get the above lens in a mint condition. I have tried to find out what the value of such a lens would be in a mint condition but the only ones i can find are not of this (assumed) quality.
So my question is; what should this lens be worth...as i dont want to pay over the top.
Many thanks

Hi Rene,
Seems that somewhere between £400 and £700 less for a mint lens would be about right? New it costs £4950 ish (MkII version). I haven't been able to find the exact lens for sale on-line but checking out the cost of a mint 300mm AF-SII VR lens compared to new would lead me to the conclusion above.
Hope this helps a bit?

Thanks Rob, it is actualyy an AFS 1 version and not AFS 2. I believe the main difference is weight.

I saw a Nikon 500mm F4 AFI advertised at www.mifsuds.com for £2895 so if the AFS version new is £4950 I would expect to pay at least £1000 more than the older version around the 3800-4000 mark?? and for the version you're after somewhere around the £3500 mark that's if you can find one!?, I know that the canon 500mm retails new for £4399 and the average price I've seen for a Near mint version was around £3600
probably no help at all but there you go, I'll keep my eyes peeled for such a lens
