Long-eared Owl (C)
Here's my offering from today; we had a good time and used various props, shot in sun and shade. I like the spotlight effect on this one. Taken with my new Nikon 300mm f/2.8 VR lens - only it's second outing but already it has become my favourite lens ever

Nikon D2X Nikkor 300 f/2.8 ISO 400 1/1250 @f/5 -0.7 Gitzo + sidekick.

My kind of shot.
Sharp, beautiful light, and every detail visible. Did I say sharp? Oh aye, but I'll say it again, SHARP

Is this one of Vince's owls John?

My kind of shot as well! Agree with all John has said. Excellent - especially the way the Owl is spotlighted.

Hi John

This shot had me checking my RAW files and no I missed that shaft of light - must have been that chap to my right switching off my camera again  Love it - the lighting is magic!

You're giving me severe lens envy John, fantastic result. I'd like to see some pics handheld at outrageously slow shutter speeds please.

Superb - love the spotlight effect. The bright bit of background would have been nice if it surrounded the bird (a sort of halo type thing) rather than being offset to one side. Although I think a totally dark BG would have given this added impact.

But those crits are super-picky - it's a top shot as it is. :toast:
