I went to Donna Nook on Sunday, I last went seven years ago and I was gobsmacked at the amount of people that was there. The car park was full to the brim and people were queing to get in the carpark, there is even a bloody burger van. When I was last there, five cars were in the carpark and you had to make do with cheese butties. The Seals are still the same though and it is a fantastic day out on the sand flats trying to get some images. This female and young pup sniffed each other only briefly and I managed to grab a couple of shots. If you are planning a trip this winter have fun it is a great place.

you captured the brief tender moment well, and I like the warm light. I've never been to Donna Nook, and to be honest, even though it's obviously a great place for photography, there's something about 'mass popularity' of locations that puts me off a bit.

Super image Danny, much enjoyed
Did you see Nature's Calender on BBC 2 the other night?, they basically gave the game away on Donna Nook so now it's only ever going to get busier and busier, I gave up going 5 years ago
a. because of the amount of people there
"A real wilderness experience" I remember Paul Hobson said at the time, there were over 100 people out on the sand bank that day, I struggled to get a clean background without any people in it!!)
b. fed up of getting sand in all my gear, especially in the gitzo tripod leg joints

Very nice picture and beautiful light.
I will be staying with friends who live near Donna Nook this weekend and was planning on giving the seals a look - looks like I better make an early start!
Dennis - Being based on Norwhich - have you tried Blakeney point? it s a bit of a treck - poss 3 miles over gravel - but because of that you will be pretty much alone on the beach...
I like this alot, almost makes me want to come over to donna nook myself, it looks like fantasic images are on the cards over there.
Cheers

Chris,
My preferred spot for seals is Horsey - not such a trog over the shingle!
I'm told that there are half dozen or so pups there atm - so hopefully will be able to get there next weekend.
