Taken early one evening on the beach at Brean in Somerset last year. I "baited" the Gulls to a particular spot on the beach using some left over scraps of food (they'll eat/squabble over just about anything even my cooking), pretty soon I was surrounded by literally dozens of Gulls. I found that by standing directly over the food scraps the Gulls would stay airborne circling around my head which gave me marvellous oppurtunities for flight shots, it didn't take long for me to fill all my available CF card space (several gigs worth) and 1 year on i'm still processing all the images!
On the ID front I have come to the conclusion that this is an immature/juv Lesser Black backed Gull as the tops of the legs are starting to show yellow and the grey markings to the U/S of the wings match that of images of adult LBB's that I also took that evening.

A very nice flight shot. Nicely conmposed and exposed.
I'm afraid I can't be much help on the ID front as immature gulls are not exactly a strong point of mine!
Great shot, i like gulls they are always willing to be good practise birds for flight shots.
Cheers

Hi Larry
Nice shot - I have a feeling your bird is a sub-adult Ring-billed Gull from across the other side of the pond. Try posting it on the Avian forum for a positive ID or not!

Maybe a little tight at the top of the frame, but only very minor. Other than that a crackiong shot and a nice narrative!
