Taken at Siesta Lake along the Tioga Rd. three weeks ago. Today these are all probably several feet under sonw!

That was just before the snow started coming down too. The day I was driving out to Hwy 395 they closed Tioga. I was bummed. I like your subject, but the DOF is less than ideal for my liking (from what I can see here). The detail in the background is less of interest to me than the color creeping out from the foreground foliage that has browned. Having a blurred background would help emphasize the foreground all the more. The good news is that if you wanted to you could add the blur in PS. Also the clearing between the browned foliage provides a nice lead in line.

The DOF doesn't really bother me. I like the sharpness. The unusual winter colors with gray rock are a nice contrast. At first glance this picture stands out and I go wow! The top left tree branches turn this composition into some sort of dry flower bouquet composition which is enhanced by the rocks of a very different hue, that rules out you using a simple sepia filter to get the winter colors.
At second glance I start to see things that I don't like too much. The feel of a flash being used, the tree trunks at the top that show too much of the rest of this world to just be a self contained portrait of the rocks... and the magic disappearing with all the small imperfections that slowly appear like a game of 7 errors, like the green sappling.
BTW I think you should've signed at the bottom left.

Hi Youssef. I really like the contrast of light brown ferns and darker brown forest floor. The darker color of the forest floor feels really heavy and draws the eye immediately. I like this path of dark brown running through the ferns. I find that intriguing. I might crop a bit from the left. To me the yellow flowers sure feel out of place in this scene of earth tones and really seems to disrupt the harmony of the black rocks, and earth tones. Just my random thoughts. Intriguing image.

Thanks for that honest feedback.
