Winter Wonderland
Another image from my camping trip on Hood. I've always wanted to shoot a scene like this with such a pristine blanket of snow. I have the same feeling looking at this photo as I did standing there, I just want to eat it with a spoon, it's such a delicious scene. This was shot in the early alpen glow well before sunrise. That's Jeferson in the BG.

I cropped a bit off the sky and FG to tighten the comp, they weren't adding anything to me.

I also have a comp zoomed in a ways that works as well, I'll post it later.

Really beautiful, Zack. Knowing how much work it took to get up there for this shot, you've earned 7 stars in my book. Did you get this a bit later when light colored those whispy clouds ? Chances are you turned and found the ESS shot for the true rising of the sun..... well done.

Nice one. The FG snow is cool, like glittery kinda. :toast:

I agree with everything you've said about this one, Zack. It's almost overwhelming in it's tranquility. I think I enjoy it even more than the ES&S view.

Thanks all.

Marc, it was overwhelming in it's tranquility, there was zero wind, and probably the quietest moment I've ever experienced. Amazing experience!

Jeremy, it was glittering. The photo captures some of it, but being there was amazing, the light was dancing off the ice crystals in a glittery spectacle.

It's times just like what you have captured here Zack, that have been my favorite moments ever with nature.

This is startling in its crispness yet capturing the feel of the scene as you described it. If I may dare to say it, this image is immaculate in converying the spirituality of the moment and the place with the return of the light to the land. :toast:

Oh, yeah, what Marc said, this is fully awesome, very serene, very beautiful. If I had been there I might have been tempted to break out my camp chair and the Scotch and enjoy the show (even thought I know it's morning)!
