Hi,
Admired all the quality work on here for so long so I have decided to join and make use of the expertise available.

This was taken on a Sony DSC-717 a couple of years ago,
Wish I'd been more aware of shutter speeds to freeze the wing beats.

have since upgraded to a D-slr and am now trying to get to grips with macro lenses and ring flash.

Regards
Paul

Hi Paul, and welcome to UKNP.

Nice shot here, especially considering it was only a compact. Given the speed at which these chaps beat their wings I think you'd have struggles to freeze the wings at any shutter speed! I do like how it's covered in pollen - I've never seen that before.

Hello Paul, I currently use a Sony DSC F717 and am waiting to purchase my first dslr
(Sigma SD14). It will be interesting to see some of your work using your new camera. I find
the Sony somewhat limiting in regards to DOF for macro work though with care some good results can be achieved. Welcome aboard.

I think this is excellent - lovely arty feel to it - like the way the dark lines all lead in to the bee. Would maybe have set the bee off to the right a bit more but the colours and the pollen are fantastic.

Keep 'em coming.
