Cloud Dances
Such an iconic shot, but I simply couldn't resist. I was just driving by the lake shore, ahead of a warm front, and caught glimpse of these striking lenticular forms over the distant Glacier peaks reflected in a placid McDonald lake. I had to stop and shoot it for a while. In the background, smoke from a controled burn had settled in the valley like mist and a little light was shining on the distant water. It made for some interesting photos. Thanks for comments/suggestions.

I love it! Not much to suggest except that maybe a more panoized version might be cool :toast:

Dude I just looked at your new stuff of your site.....really incredible, your body of work hugely impressive and very inspirational. :toast:

I concur - a panorama shot would be really sweet. I just did a quick monitor version and it is really nice to remove the top/bottom portions that don't include the clouds.

I also concur on your portfolio, Marc. A joy to view and breath in thru my eyes....

With the mountains being so far away, Marc, I think I'd like to see a bit of crop off of either the top or bottom to de-center the photo. Right now it seems sort of formalistic to me. With the crop off the bottom (I'm leaning that way now) I'm forced to look at it more, my eye seems to explore it more. It's like, you're saying, "Hey, I saw this and though it was cool but there is something else cool over here also". Rather than just, "Hey, I saw this and thought it was cool".

It makes me want to be there. I like the graphical and peaceful quality and the surreal clouds. I've been enjoying your images from your fall wildnerness excursion. Outstanding work.
Btw thanks for your comment on my salmon crossing the road photo in the environmental pj forum.

Nice symmetry in the composition and light at the water line. Panoramic would be cool, but absolutely nothing wrong with this, IMO. Nuthin' wrong with iconic shots, either....
