I was wondering if any of you had suggestions for snowshoes. I was browsing Ebay looking to get something. I'm interested in light and fuctional equipment.
Any suggestions?

Ryan,
I borrowed a pair from a guy at work who is about 1 foot taller than me and about 65 lbs heavier...they're a bit long for me and they are a bit older. They workgreat if you make sure you tighen the straps enough. Since I am not going to buy that pair, and it is for sale...if you are interested...email me. I imagine you could get the shoes, gators, and poles for alot cheaper than to buy them new.
I would recommend Sherpa showshoes they are used by must professional guides. They are bombproof and have an unconditional lifetime warrenty. I would also recommend going too as opposed to light. The object of snowshows is to keep you on top of the snow, postholing with snowshoes is no fun. I have been using mine for over 20 years.

Ryan,
My plan is to pick up a pair this year as well, and fully intend on renting some to try before I buy. I believe that REI will rent them for a weekend for a nominal cost, and I have also spotted some rental locations up in Government Camp. Just a thought.
