Hey everyone,
I wanted to start off by asking if anyone has objections for the Asheville "hang out spot" being somewhere that is a place that serves alcohol and food. Just trying to be considerate to everyone incase it bothers someone.Just drop me an email. Also if you have an idea for a shooting location. I believe that the BRP will closed for season

If the group decides to go to Max Patch to shoot I can provide hot coffee and a place to warm up post-shoot. We also have a vacation rental up here that's pretty inexpensive when a lot of people go in together. If there's snow 4WD or tire chains are essential for getting to Max Patch.

Sounds like good ideas so far...anywhere in the Asheville area works well for me. Hope we can get a good group together! :wavey:

Asheville and Max Patch sound great to me. I'm new here and look forward to meeting everyone and getting out of the big city. Hopefully I can fit it into my schedule. Let me know when you come up with a date.

Let's start with a date first-Any conflicts with the 3rd weekend of Janruary( 20th-21st)?

Leanne

For me personally, it works. How about everyone else?
Posted by Brian C. Robbins on December 13, 2006 at 6:08 PM
That date is fine now, but I will have to wait till closer to that date to see what may schedule is like. January is usually busy due to everyone in December is usually dealing with Christmas instead of giving me money.

Sounds like a plan to me

It works for me as well.

John and I are heading to WDC sometime in January to see my photo at the Smithsonian  and then on to New York to have a drink at a bar he designed and built for a new restaurant/bar opening there. We won't know when we're going until we have a firm opening date for the bar in NY, but I'll be there if I can!

Posted by Leann Greene on December 18, 2006 at 7:19 PM
Lori,
Oh come on can't that be rescheduled???
Sounds like a road trip! That is great publicity for Hot Springs-your photo !
Posted by Lori Kincaid on December 18, 2006 at 8:55 PM
Matthew,

It's this photo. It won the plant life category in the Nature's Best photo contest this year and is being exhibited as part of the annual Nature's Best Exhibit  .

Leann, you crack me up! We usually try to get off the mountain some time in the winter months, but we usually don't go north! Should be loads of fun.

Nope, still no word on when the restaurant/bar will open, pending the final bureacratic details. We may not know until the last minute. You guys probably need to go ahead and make your plans and I'll be there if I can.

Any more on the get together?

I'm holding the weekend of the 20th open just waiting to hear where and when.
Posted by Leann Greene on January 5, 2007 at 12:01 PM

Leann,
How are things shaping up for the 20th-21st. I would love to attend.
Posted by Leann Greene on January 9, 2007 at 6:24 AM
Ok folks!
To accomidate the out of staters-is one day better over the other for you:Is saturday better or is Sunday fine as well?

I propose for those who want to shoot also we try Max Patch-access is via I-40 at either exit 24(Canton Area) or exit 7(Harmon Den). Lori suggests exit 7 in non snowy weather.
So would you rather meet for a morning shoot and then assemble for food and chat or meet for the food and chat first and then shoot late afternoon? I will contact Barley's tap room and pizzaria in Asheville and warn them. So chime in what works best for y'all

http://www.choicehotels.com/ires/en-US/html/HotelInfo?hotel=NC437 Exit 31 off I40
Posted by Richard Bernabe on January 9, 2007 at 2:40 PM
Leanne,

I think we should meet to shoot early, but also have a specific time to meet later for food/drinks/bs. That way, those who cannot make the morning shoot can just meet the group later at Barleys or whatever. So, there should be two seperate meeting times - one for the morning, and one for later that after noon or evening. Just my .02

Leann,
either day is fine with me
Posted by Leann Greene on January 9, 2007 at 9:16 PM
I agree and had that in mind:-)
I called today and Barley's opens on saturdays at 11 and sundays at 12. I will call ahead of time even though they don't do reservations they appreciate a heads up. So how about 3pm for the get together? Any preferences of day?
