I'm sure you guys are well read around the web, so this probably isn't news.
I've been keeping my eye on the Canon ipf5000 and Epson 3800/4800 (no room for anything larger right now). Some very favorable reviews and experiences with the 5000 came to my attention and I've made the plunge (one of many lately ).
Canon is running a $500 unconditional (no upgrade needed) rebate through 31 Dec. The best deal I found was with ColorHQ.com
$1395 gets you the printer, motorized roll feed unit, an extra maintenance cartridge ($65 value), and free shipping. I called a few other vendors. B&H's price was $1395 with the rebate included plus $225 for the roll feed and $176 for shipping (didn't price the cartridge with them).
I'm sure there are many die hard Epson users who would never waiver, but if you've considered the ipf5000 this might be the time to jump. I guess the rebate is working .
There is an updated review on luminous landscape and in the LL forum. Also an unofficial wiki is available at http://canonipf5000.wikispaces.com/
WOW. You have been on a streak lately. Need any help spending all those $$$ Daddy Warbucks!!
The Canon is a great device. I am looking forward to seeing them make a nice version of it in 24" someday.

Yeah, my wife thinks so too. She's been a little too understanding and supportive. Makes me nervous! Guess I better start taking some pictures! (I'm going out this evening)
Just following your lead! That could be a bad thing.
BTW - for anyone considering the purchase, ColorHQ had 14 this morning. They're down to 10 and I was told they sold 8 yesterday. No, I don't get a commission.

Congratulations on your new purchase, Kalin. From reading the Luminous-landscape.com review it sounds like a great printer, and a heavy one too. With that in mind, if you need some help getting that 100lb beauty moved into position and set up send me an email and I'll be glad to lend a hand. I live nearby in Woodland Park.
