Flatirons Sunrise / Moonset Today
I stopped to shoot sunrise this morning on the way to work. The wind was IN-SANE  . There was practically no wind at the house, but a few miles away at the top of McCaslin and Hwy 128, it was absolutely howling. Reminded me of every winter hike I've ever done in Rocky Mountain NP.... Most of the shots came out soft due to the wind, but this one came out okay.

Processed on a laptop due to no space left on my PC, so if the image quality is a little squirrely, please forgive...

but this one came out okay

Okay? OKAY??? Sheesh, this is stunning! I love the converging shadow lines in the sky. Everything else I love about it is fairly obvious: the moon, awesome clouds, pink sky, distant snow mountains. This is just inSANE!

Rick, this one is awesome. It almost looks like the sun is behind the Flatirons with the 'rays' coming up from behind the mountains. I'll have to figure out how to get to this vantage point - I've only ever shot the Flatirons from Chataqua.

Sweet shot! Tony, I'm not positive, but I think this crummy vantage point may be from Rick's backyard.

Another sweet shot Rick. Well done!!!

Wow! Absolutely tremendous image! :jump: I love the way the shadows created by the clouds directs the viewer to a place on the mountins immedicately below the moon. Oh yeah, the colors don't suck either.

Fantastic shot Rick!

Sweet s shot, Rick! Great colors! You seem to have a knack for shooting the Flatirons.

Thanks, everyone. My "okay" comment was in reference to the sharpness - I'm not that humble.

Tony - this is a pretty easy one to find. I shoot from a dirt turnout situated just off the west-bound lane of Hwy 128, between Indiana and McCaslin. The view from my front porch is very similar, but driving up the road eliminates some foreground clutter.

Wow this is sweet!!! I like how the line of the clouds amplifies the line of the mountains. And the cloud shadow is awesome!

Rick,

Great shot! So many nice elements come together, even the placement of the peaks on the right with the cloud above. AWESOME! :toast:
