West Coast Imaging is having their annual year-end scan sale. If you get your film (remember that stuff?) to them before 12/27 you get 25% off their Tango drum scans. It's a heckuva deal on high quality scans by a reputable company. Go to: http://www.westcoastimaging.com/wci/page/services/more/specials.htm and scroll to the bottom. (Be sure to read the fine print - most scans will be done in January.)
I'm sending a bunch of transparencies to them so be sure to get yours over first or you may be waiting a while.

P.S. For all of you digital folks - ignore this message and keep up the good work.

What's a scan and why would anyone ever need one???

I'll be sending them a few old transparencies. As a warning, they can have an extremely slow turn around on some of their popular special sales.
With all of those old, blurry slides of yours I can see how you might subconsciously block out any memories of film. To answer the second part of your question: A person would need a scan if he was a dinosaur, Luddite, general curmudgeon who still clings desperately to outdated technology like I do or if he just couldn't afford the fancy new technology that you digital guys use so proficiently these days.

Thanks for the heads up, CAZ. For the folks near Denver, I'll put in a plug for Richie V.'s drum scans. He did one for me a while back for a large print sale, and he did a great job. Price was very reasonable, and as a bonus you get to tour the Richie V. museum of computer and dark room technology while you wait.
I am up and running and working on the pricesheet at this time. I told my wife last April that I would have my remodeling "projects" done by mid May at the abosolute latest. And as usual the projects came in way over budget and way over time ( I just finished about 3 weeks ago) . (Note: Rick you gotta come down and see the setup - alot different than before)
I can print up to 44" on luster/glossy surfaces and up to 24" on matte surfaces. I have the ability to profile paper/printer/ink combinations, drum scan and develop B/W film i any developer combinations you might like (or i can suggest some).
My hope is to have a party at the house for you guys/gals sometime in January.
If you are intersted in pricing on scans or other services (or just want a tour of the photography museum ) shoot me an email.
