Sunrise & Moonset Eagle Mountain
Here's one I pulleded off of I25 for, on my way to Denver to pick up prints 12/05/06 at the Greenland Open Space Area between Monument and Larkspur.

Ok Fire away!

First of all the lighting on the rock is nice as well as the addition of the moon. However, the busy fg is a little distracting. Overall the image looks too dark.

As Todd recently mentioned, your posted images always appear very dark, with a yellow cast. Both get in the way of enjoying this image ... for me.

I agree with Josh on the FG and Jesse on the too dark and yellow cast comments. I've also noticed that your images seem to be very dark and yellowish. Are you working on a properly calibrated monitor?

I think this would work better cropped to a pano to eliminate the FG and focus the attention on the moon and nicely lit butte.

What were your prints doing at the Greenland Open Space Area?

BTW, actually I don't mind all the stuff in the FG at all, gives it some personality. And given the nice blue cast in the snow, and the lack of any cast in the moon, I think the yellow here is strictly from a great sunset. But has anybody mentioned this looks a little dark?

James - like the others, I think the darkness/color shift issue undermines the impact of an otherwise nice image. The darkness and yellow cast don't appear to be as great as in the images posted in the December theme thread, but my first reaction was too dark and a little too yellow.

I remember that when you first started posting, your images had the same issue. Then it went away. Now it's back...

Todd I think you were the only one to notice that the yellow is not a cast, because if it were the Moon would be yelloww too! Yes I am working on a Calibrated Monitor. In fact I don't add or change color at all from my raw files. All i do is clean up any noise or spots from dust that might have gotten on the sensor. I shoot in Auto White balance and other times I shoot with the light balance set for the conditions. My ONLY filters are the Circular Polariser and 3 Stop Soft Step ND Grad. No Color effects. So any color cast is not from image doctoring or uncalibrated monitors. The color you see is the color I had. The Darkness is deliberate as I have explained before. One element to composition is mood. For me, mood is often expressed in light and shadow.

LOL Todd, I was on my way to Denver to deliver prints to a recent corporate sale through my new representative who I had call you too as they had wanted an image or two of yours for the same project. I think you were out of town though at the time and very busy. Sucks to be you huh? LOL  Anyway those prints are going to a medical clinic across the road from Invesco Field. This makes my third large sale to a corporate buyer in the Denver area!

Anyway I do value the input all of you offered so far. it helps.
