Ok, we seemed to have reached a consensus opinion on the image I posted earlier, so I thought I'd share these instead.

This is a collection of amazingly stupid road signs I found during my recent travels. Not exactly nature stuff, but hopefully you find it slightly entertaining. Moderators - the five images collectively should only be about 200K. Feel free to remove it if you think it's too off-topic.

Rough Road. Um...road? Where? I had been backpacking for five miles already when I came across this.

Quiet....maybe. Modern........hard to believe particularly because of the 19th century wagon used to carry the sign.

The one and only, Stoners Inn. Don't ask me how it got the name, I never went inside.

That's great... I've seen signs many times that I wish I would have photographed for the same reasons....

A particularly descriptive name for one of Alberta's provincial historic parks. Wouldn't simply "Buffalo Jump" have worked?

This is the label used on most trash recepticles in downtown Banff.

Thanks Ned. I was thinking stock, but thought it would be fun to post them here too.

Some real classic there Marc. Sounds like whoever named the park was watching too many Horror Movies that day.

thanks for the chuckle

Really funny - Rough road and head smashed in are classic. Too bad you didn't get better lighting for the Stoner's Inn photo, that could have been the best shot from your trip if it had better lighting :jump:

The rough road one is pretty good.

That's bizzare! Are flys especially attracted to straw hats or what? I guess if anyone else has some weird sign pics you may as well post them.

Guy and I were driving around Utah and saw a sign that advertised "Guns, Fireworks, Beer, Wedding Gowns"! I didn't get a photo of it.

Mark,
Good stuff. I remember the garbage can signs when I was in Jasper a few years ago.

Saw this one, but didn't know what to make of it  :wavey:

I don't even know how you did that, Rick. So much for my PS. skills.

Great signs, lol. Here's one we took a few years ago while camping and exploring the backroads on the eastside of Mt. St. Helens with our vw camper. This was "bustling downtown" Brixberg. Was curious who the half-person was. Didn't see any folks, but did meet the 2 crows.

Nice collection fellas. When I saw these two together I had to pull over and take a snapshot.

Sorry Marc to ask you here - I just dont know where else to ask you a question. Your images are so unbelievable of this latest trip to the Rockies and it is inspired to get up there this winter season but I do not know where to start. When researching where to hike in the Rockies could you lead me in the right direction of where to get information. Other then Darwin 's books how you did you know where to go and when to go. I am worried about not being able to get to places because of too much snow. Lastly, is it possible to get to some of these magical places that you shoot without being the best hiker in the world. Thanks in advance for anything you can tell me. I would really appreciate it. kevinmcneal30@hotmail.com
