but instead of Rolf Harris, a Red Deer Stag.
Taken at Bradgate Park on 29th October as the deer were coming down from the out-of-bounds area to cross the stream so very much a grabbed shot rather than a planned one.
Resized, a few blown highlights in the foliage cloned out, a touch of USM.
BTW if his antlers look a bit odd it's because they were caked in mud, as was most of his body. So now we know what a stag's idea of a dirty weekend is
Comments and critisms welcome.

Hi Paul
Doesn't really work for me for two reasons - your subject is a little too central and the image is too contrasty with not enough detail in the shadow areas. I feel a simple adjustment in shadows & highlights and some extra work with something like the blur tool on the bracken would IMO lift the image!

It's a bit dark and moody and therefore fine if that was what you were trying to capture.
As I wasn't there, I can't say there was a better composition to be had, but often the camera isn't able to capture a scene as the eye sees it. Fortunately, in these digital days, when this happens it isn't costing us a small fortune.

Hi Paul,
Nice try - but I must admit I have to agree with David. A little work could make it a better image.

Thanks for the feedback guys - very much appreciated. To be honest, I keep blowing hot and cold over this one. I've been on the point of deleting it on several occassions but have kept it just on the off-chance that there's a decent image under there somewhere. I'll have another play with it.
