How do we go about forming a Chaptor of NPN Downunder, see there appears to be one in the British Isle & Europe, so how do we Downuder go about doing this, I for one would like to become a member but the cost of exchange makes membership a prohibitive to us.

Well,
it is more of a 'UK Forum' than Europe.

All the best to you.

A fair bit bigger than the british Isle and more Picturesque, then when you bring in the shakey isles and all the rest theras nothing to compare with us.

Its actually the United Kingdom  and European Forum (we aren't all British) and we have a good number (and growing) of Non-British Europeans that post on the forum. Some of the best in Europe post and the network is starting to work with people exchanging ideas and trips.

Charles, just so you are aware, its easy setting up a regional forum (its just takes a number of members to talk to Jim about their aspirations) but none of the costs are controlled by the region - we all, all members, pay the same NPN subscription to Jim for the upkeep of our servers etc - there is no regional cost differences as we are all part of a global network.

Also all work done in the day to day management ( and local events etc) of a regional forum is done on a voluntary basis by the local moderators. Be aware, it can be time consuming when you grow something as big as UKNP (we are probably the biggest single forum on NPN) - but its enjoyable. (normally )

Charles,
You probably misunderstood me. May be it is my writing skills. I know AUS is a huge country. And I do wish to watch a test match at Perth some day.

I meant the forum is frequented more by UK people than other countries in Europe. I was also planning a Europian chapter but the reponse was not as positive. May be it is due to the language barrier that not many Europians are active at the forum. (Germany, France etc. There are few who are active at NPN but you can count them on fingers).

Thankyou Tom I'm aware of most of your points but I need to get my Australian and Kiwi mates of their buts to get this thing running. I enjoy logging into NPN as a guest, what I mean by membership payment means is bank account details so as we can pay by what we here know as netbanking, this would make it easier for most of us to take up paid membership and I haven't found anything to steer me that way as yet.

Prashant,

I would say that about 15% of the UKNP membership isn't British and the number runs well over two hands. There are more that post on UKNP than NPN but that isn't supprising as Europe is their market place. IHMO we have some of the best talent in Europe post on UKNP.

Tom,
I never doubted the talent. And I by numbers I mean people from other countries in Europe. May be I should frequent UKNP more (I'm in Germany).
PS:You are not including other islands such as Scotland, I hope, for the 15% you are talking. (Kidding).

Prashant, maybe you should visit more often as Scotland isn't an island, it has a land border with England, although I have a feeling that the Scots (and English) would prefer that it was

PS I'm Northern Irish

Criky Folks, I did not think I could stur up such a Hornetts nest, I understand all of you well, on Sunday evening my Camera Club is having its annual Christmas get together, so I think I will print off all your responces to my leader and see what I can get out of them. By theway I notice that there has as yet not been a comment from here, but plenty from the Northern Hemasphere. Thanks for your input and I'm taking it All On Board.
Great to know that Photographers from all over the world are of similar minds.
Charles R Kerr.
Ps Tom My lot left C Down in late 1838 early 1839 paid their own way didn't get any help, just sold everything to get out here, I'm Glad Moses did too. :wavey: :wavey: :wavey:

Charles, thanks for your interest in forming a "down under" regional forum. Right up front, we'd be happy to do it (again)!

We had an "Oceania" group for a few years, but then it slowly went inactive. A few of those who participated in that group are still here on NPN, including long time NPN member Keith Anderson (moderator of the Classifieds forum).

As Tom has said, all we look for is enough interested people to keep the forum active, and to encourage their paid membership to help support it all. Please feel free to contact me directly using the email link below or directly at editor@naturephotographers.net

I look forward to hearing from you!

PS - I need to get educated on the "net banking" you refer to. Any links to sites describing what it entails would be appreciated!

Charles,

Nice to see some more Aussies turning up at NPN again. As Jim said there used to be a regional forum but it slowly disintegrated, then it was closed down. I'm happy again if a forum wants to be open but traffic at a Aus forum is going to be slow, there just isn't the numbers for it, but hey it's worth a try again. I know of a few I could get to use it again, so if Jim wants to try it again I'll be there

On thinking about this if it was to get up off the ground it would possibly be better called the Australiasian forum as this give it us here in Aussie and The Land of the Long White Cloud along with the Islands throughout the south west Pacific Region, considdering the number of xpats that live in this region it would be the logical name to give it.
What do you Think Jim & Keith,
Charles,

Another member from Downunder.
As Keith says there was a forum but there was some event that caused the members to not continue to participate. I would be happy to participate . If such was restored

Good'ay Rod, Glad to see you on line, I stated this Forum as a result of my frustration in relation to lack of Aussies on this great site, as you can see most of the responces so far have been from the other side of the world. I have been talking NPN up to all my Photography Cobbers, I email bits I find in NPN to some of them Mainly my local Club members. On entering UKNP one evening I found a Cheerful Rapour there among the users over there and thought imediatly why haven't we got one here Downunder, thanks to you blokes I'm finding out a lot.

Yes Keith, very much so, I will contact Jim to see if I can find an Electronic means of paying my membership to NPN sometime in the next month. I've been chatting up some people I know and getting some degree of interest as a result.
