It was often below zero in the Canadian rockies by mid-November and the rivers were starting to freeze. Hundreds of ice chunks were being carried downstream in the current. I took this opportunity to use a long exposure for a more artistic take on the scene as late day clouds reflected in the cold waters.

Mark, the long exposure works really well here. I love the lines it has added to the stream. Great light as usual and wonderful composition.

Sooo... cool Marc! I love th effect of the long exposure.
Marc, I really like this. The surface of the water looks amazing from the flowing ice.

Wow...only 3 comments. This is really neat, Marc! Those ice chunks really portray a sense of movement. Great choice of ss, it really draws you into the scene.

Until I read your comments, Marc, thought wind may have created the streaks on a frozen river. Nice shot.

I saw this on your site earlier and loved the motion but was not sure what caused it. It almost looks like it's frozen with this unique texture on it. This is one very interesting image to me.....

Very captivating. Really evokes a wintry feeling. Like the clouds and the reflections.

Yep, another masterpiece with the great idea for creating motion in the river combined with your usual treatment of light and composition. It's getting hard to find descriptives for your images.... Brilliant as always.

The effects of the slow ss on the water makes the image along with the beautiful sky and snow laden trees.
