As I mentioned in a previous post I have had a good look around the forum and I really feel like binning every so-called "good-shot" I have. The quality of shots here is staggering !!!! Thing is before I used to blame my gear. But now that have spent so much on it I can't quarrel with the tools. I will be asking alot of questions over the next while.
Two birds for the price of one MJ, very nice silhouette

Hi Michael
Welcome to the forum
An excellent first post, I really like the composition and the position and framing of the two herons works very well. Overall the image is a little bit lacklustre, a better sunset would make this a real cracker but that was beyond your control, unless a revisit with better light is possible.
Your right this shot could do with a better background and it's also a little noisy with the longer exposure on the sensor. This location is excellent for photographing roosting birds and have revisited on several occasions. Herons, egrets, rooks, jackdaws, starlings all roost here and the site is also a large heronry. I have posted an example of what the background could be like if you caught on the right evening in Aug/Sept with a harvest moon. I didn't have a chance to get the time in this year.
