I dont normally like images of birds etc going away from me but in this case I am hoping that it gives a greater impression of speed ? Taken recently at Welney where I had a really good day

Canon 20D, 500 L IS, 1/2500, f5.6, iso 400, full frame - I personally like tightly framed images but I am sure it will be toooooooo tight for some

All comments good or bad appreciated

Hi Terry,

A beautiful image. You've handled the whites very nicely. When you were at Welney, do you know if the Short eared Owls were showing?

regards Chris

Hi Chris, not sure about the Owls as I tend to go just for the Swans ? The road at Welney was closed because of flooding which made my route from the north 'interesting'. Only the main hide was open because of high water but on the day I went I found this quite good as the swans were nearer

Cheers Terry. Hopefully when I go, I will get some decent images of the swans too!

Hi Terry

I think your shot here works well. I would prefer the swan slightly smaller in the frame, and with a bit more space in front of the bird, however it still is a strong image as is. Great action, good whites, and spot on timing to get the wings in the perfect position.

Hi Terry,

I like it but agree with Sean that a bit more room in front would add to this image. Shame it's slightly passed you but I think it's definitely a keeper. Whites look great and a great action shot.

Hi Terry

I would take something off the RHS for a better balanced composition. You'll lose some of the splash, but it will lessen the lack of space in front of the swan. Otherwise, great capture.
