Hi All,
I'll post something in "Tell Us About yourself" soon because I suspect I'll be participating here more soon. I've been lurking in this forum for about a year and you all seem pretty awesome.
This is from a late october hike on the South Fork Hoh River Trail. A poorly maintained but deserted trail in the Olympic National Park. It's not very long, just about 3 miles until the trail dissapears, but you can walk forever along the banks of the river in low flow times. The gf and I were out here for 2 days, covered about 7 miles, and saw nobody the whole time, not even another car at the trailhead.
I hardly ever take a pic beyond about 28mm so I'm curious as to what the reaction may be, thanks.

I think it works, Andy. The light is obviously a great asset to the scene. The reds certainly tell of the Autumn season. It's a documentary style here - my only critique might be that I don't take a lot from the scene emotionally. In my opinion it's a very direct image, with a clearly defined subject. Not necessarily a bad thing. Perhaps a more inclusive composition, even if more chaotic would be more contemplative? Maybe others will find more lasting impact with this image.

Well first off, welcome to the forums, Andy !! I do hope you post more.
About this shot, I get a similar read to Marc in that there isn't really a focus point for me to settle on. The sharpness doesn't seem tack sharp on the mossy branch and the OOF reds are trying to say something that I'm not clear about since they are OOF. Hope this doesn't sound too critical.
I'd be curious to see what else you found there. That is a difficult location, in my opinion....

I love this image, the comp is fascinating and the field of red BG is warm and compelling. My eyes can wander over this image for a long long time. More Mr. Drumer!

Andy,
Welcome to the forum. As for the image, I would kind of like to see some of the moss on the top more in focus. The red in the background is a nice touch. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

It's an interesting capture of moss, which can be a challenge. I like the reddish oof bg as a contrast. The main moss branch could be a little sharper perhaps.
