Teal in flight
I have been trying for some time to get flight shots of Teal a reasonable size in the frame and last week-end managed to get this image which I am reasonable pleased with. Although this image of three drakes has been cropped a little to approx 70% of the frame.

Hi David a nice image you can't beat a bit of cropping they show plenty of detail just how I like to see them.

Phillip.

Ps Marsh side just outside of Southport is a good place for flight shots of wigeon teal and most types of waterfowl and waders, at this time of year if the sun is shining and high tide you can stand in the layby with the sun behind you looking over the marsh and nature reserve.

Phillip.

if you get to Marshside early enough as well you can also set up between the road (marshside rd) and the reserve and get within 10-15ft of Wigeon feeding along with other wildfowl, little egrets are using the marsh in good numbers as well now

Impressive flight shot, with the light source being low all day perhaps winters a good time for this type of photography.

Nice shot Dave, you did well to get this, I've been in the same hide recently trying to photograph the Wigeon in flight, but without the 500mm I don't stand a chance of even 70% of the frame

Wow!
What an amazing coincidence......I've just had a couple of them for my dinner this evening

These things are hard to track with no lenses at the best of times, never mind with a 10x.

That sure is a nice shot.

Love the way Teal 2 and 3 are peeling of from Teal leader.

Fantastic shot David. Possibly one of the best flight shots I've seen of these. Everything looks right on the money......

It's all been said - but I'll add my "Great shot - incredibly envious" tuppenceworth.

Nicely shot and presented.

Hi Dave

Excellent flight shot. A very difficult bird to capture in flight, small birds and very fast. I like the composition with the 3 birds. :toast:

cheers

Hello David
I like this a lot, the birds really "pop" out of the frame.
Best wishes
