I am interested in some feed back on this image. I made it while I was in California this summer in Bodie. There is no photoshop trick involved. I simply shot through an old window, across the church and out the window on the opposite side. I was able to catch the reflection of the desert behind me as well as a piece of the town on the other side of the building. It's interesting to me because in a single image you are able to see two directions at the same time. It creates an interesting juxtaposition of the setting for this church. I posted it in Man and Nature, but it is low in feed back over there. Do you see any artistic merit in this kind of image. In hind sight I should have increased my DOF to keep the desert in sharper focus. On the other hand if the intended focus is the opposite window then maybe it's better for the desert not be in such sharp focus. I can't decide which would be better. Do the siding lines overlaying the sky bother you? The exposure on the far glass feels right to me, but the far outdoors seems a little hot. Pulling down the exposure in the town messes up the window itself. What do you think?
Thanks,
Michael

Tough call, Michael, probably should go with your gut. I dont have problems with the exposure etc, but i would have found it more interesting if there was something, anything, in the desert to add to the composition, even a cactus would have worked for me! But i like the concept, it's cool.

I agree with Stan, the concept is good but there is not enough interest in the reflection for my tastes.

Wow... tricky! I like it how it is. The siding lines in the sky are great. Unlike the above posts, I like the empty desert here. The whole image has a strange, desolate feel to it.

I think it's a pretty cool photo with a very interesting concept. Take it from a guy whose expertise in critique is not as good as some of the others here, but I'd be tempted to increase the saturation and/or contrast in some of the areas of the photo to highlight the window area.
I dont really care for this one. I think you should play more with the technique and look for more opportunities to try this but for this one it doesnt peak my interest and kinda has a feeling like a dirty window to me. I mean the reflection and the window are both not really popping which i find a little distracting.
Bodie rocks doesnt it?

I love the concept Michael, but the color does kind of bug me a bit. Did you try this in B&W...with the contrast maybe pushed a bit? This is a really interesting shot, it really played some mind tricks on me.
