In a tree a Heron. I had previously posted a similar shot from a completely different day and found this high rise Heron again roosted in a pine tree. Any thoughts on which you prefer or suggestions?

Full screen version I see alot of comression artifacts etc -this isnt fully web processed yet. I am curious about the version preference.
I think I prefer the bottom version. The layer of fog really adds to the mood here and helps tell the story of the morning much better.

The bottom one is definitely better. I agree with Richard that the fog adds a nice touch. And I like the trees in the background too.

Leann, I'd agree the bottom version is the best. I also like the trees in the background and the fact that the fog kind of grays they out. Great shot!

I like the bottom one overall as a composition because of the fog though the bird is easier to make out on the top one. Perhaps if you could dodge some of the highlight on the bird it'd stand out more. or was it your intention to make it subtle? Art Wolfe's new book is based on the camoflage theme too.

Thanks everyone for the input. You all touched on what I liked and re-affirmed what I will work on. The Heron in the larger version is more obvious in a larger scale and in print. Though I enjoy images of animals in their environment-the heron is what caught my eye first hand and what I want here.Stay tuned for updates and thanks again
