Thanks for all of your crits on Olympic Fall, I like this forum, people aren't afraid to say they don't like it, or it could be improved.

I have recently aquired an adapter that allows me to put my old manual focus lenses on my Minolta 5D. Great cheap fast glass.

Unfortunately, the lack of coatings on older lenses means you get an automatic soft focus effect at the big apertures. Here is an exaple from just a few days ago where I think it worked well.

A baby tree catching the first light on Mt Tabor was begging for a portrait.

Minolta (old) 50mm 1.4 @ f/1.4, 1/25th ISO 400

Thanks, curious to the reaction.

I like this, Andy. The white OOF elements in the BG are a bit distracting but you really can't remove them (well, you could pretty easily if you want to...). If you do that, I'd look at cloning out the branch in the bottom RC as well. Seems like it might be cleaner without it.... Cool "Orton" effect from right out of the camera

Overall, the composition doesn't work for me. Something too "in your face" about the tree in FG, I think. The background gives it some artistic quality.
