Hi Everybody,
I've been back to the area where I got my recent Woodpecker and Jay posts from, this time for some birds at feeders. This is a Great Tit about to hop onto the feeder about 2 ft away. The techs were:
Nikon D2X, 200-400mm VR, 1/90th sec at F6.7, ISO 800, 055PRO, 393

Hi,
I haven't run any noise reduction software on this image. I was just looking at the original RAW file and I think because of the sharpening in PS CS and jpeg compression for web use, it has increased the noise levels.
Thanks for the tip
Regards Chris.

Hi Chris
Like the image and have only two concerns. I find the bird very central in the image and the whites look just a touch hot. Other than that I like the perch and background and the bird is posed beautifully.
I like the simple uncluttered perch and surroundings.Nice pose too and the soft light works a treat.
Could possibly take a little more sharpening,at least as viewed on my CRT screen, perhaps not though, if viewed on an LCD.
A fine portrait.

Nice image - I like the pose and nice background but maybe a touch cropped off the top might help? Agree with John about thewhites too - but I'm not viewing on my own monitor so it could be the set up here
Hi Chris a nice image the whites dont bother me, it looks very nice for iso800 I feel the D2x dose seem better after the update at the high iso's.

Hi Chris, a nice image as is, but I feel you could improve a bit by giving it a bit more saturation, and make a crop where you don't see the bottom of the perch.

Hi Everybody,
I have taken some of the advice mentioned above and come up with this image, which I feel does look better overall. I took abit off the bottom and the top and gave it one more round of USM. Hope you like it.

Hi, repost is much better, whites as said are heading towards hot, but these are difficult birds to get the exposure right on, you should be able to get a bit more detail by doing a second conversion with the EV lowered to show detail in the white and then layer them and use a layer mask to carefully bring in the detail...
All the best

Have you run noise-reduction s/w on it?
Cheers
