Lens Hood for Nikon 500 mm ?

Has anyone come up with a reasonable substitute for the lens Hood on thie 500mm F4 lens ??

The used one I recently purchased doesn't have one, and the B an H prices are ridiculous! :rolleyes:

All suggestions solicited!

I've bought a few Nikon hoods over the years. Yes, they are expensive. It's not B&H it's Nikon! Check KEH, you might get lucky and pick up a used one for a little less. I've seen people use coffee cans and such, but the proper lens shade is always best in my ever so humble opinion.
