Ungulates rock!
Catchy title huh.. Friday I had to drive my mother to the Asheville Airport and they always seem to be VERY early flights. So Afterwards I took advantage of my closeness to Cataloochee,GSMNP and made it there for sunrise. I found the main herd of elk and many many turkeys and frost everywhere-even on the elk!

That's awesome Leann. Everytime I try to pet a deer they run before I get there.

Thanks everyone!
Richard W-the trick is to use non scent soap, shampoo, laundry detergent and then spray on stuff that makes you smell like: of all things-DIRT! Oh and cut open an apple and rub it all over your hands but make sure your shoes are tied tight so you can be the one running away:-)

I'll have to give that a try. Most of the time I have my 17-35 on my camera so I'll just have to open up to 2.8 and see if I can capture the world's most dramatic wildlife photo.

17-35mm... Ummm yes dramatic would be the result when you're only 3 feet away to get them to not look like big brown lumps and also dramatic when the ranger is writing out a ticket. :argue:
Hey maybe set up a flash trap at your house for when Santa shows up! Reindeer and Ol' Saint Nick with retina burn have to be good for a few laughs. :jump:
