Taken at Budleigh Salterton in Devon on Saturday morning. I know it's not perfect and there's quite deep shadows that I suspect I can draw out some detail in with a bit of work, but I'm horrendously poor at flight shots and have found a good spot I reckon for some practice.
This is one of my first efforts.
Any tips for flight shots appreciated. Metering for sky shots, what's the best methods?
Comments appreciated.

Caught this one really well Graeme. Like it as normally they are depicked spalashing down on to water alone. Like the break up between water and land with that great reflection.
You have done well especially with a 2X .
Metering for flight shots... use manual mode and either an incident reading or take a reading from a neutral area, grass or reeds are normally quite good, keep a check for changing light conditions...

Hi Graeme
What a cracking image - I like everything about it. As a general rule for flight shots I use manual metering, usually taking a reading off the grass plus a 1/3rd over but not for white birds when I sometimes go a 1/3rd under the reading!

Hi Graeme, a super shot with the whites just a bit hot. Re: metering - I for one have given up on Manual, and use AV f5.6 and exp.comp -1/3 - normally that works fine if any sun at all and you prioritize landing/take off shots like here.

Lovely image you have caught the landing perfectly. Two small nits. Not easy lighting and a shame that there was not slightly more light on this side of the head and that the dark head is against the slightly darker part of the background and not more water, but probably not a lot that could be done about that.
