Took a trip to Bend this weekend. Slept through a beautiful sunrise up on Bachelor Saturday morning (saw it from the window of my room), then Sunday morning rendered a cloudless nothing. That's OK, because I really probably wouldn't have gotten outta the car anyway since it was around 10 degrees just in town, not even mentioning what it was up on the mountain.
On tha way back home, some cool color/clouds formed so I pulled off the side of the road and set up my tripod. I got hit with a couple flying rocks from tires of cars passing by, which was extra special
I'm not real crazy 'bout the standard comp, but I just can't delete them because of the clouds. I could do a little better job on the tree dodging on the right side though.

Blown up, you can see the two rescue 'copters hovering over the summit.

Cool shot - post a 100% if you feel like it. I'm curious to the scale.... I like this - I'd work the right side tree line a bit more - the hill to the Left of the trees a tad also... but this is very nice.

Too much tree-dodging, Rick. They look like they're glowing with a comparatively dark sky and mountain. The dark-haloed edges at right are particularly noticable. I'd probably lighten up the top half also, just a little. The comp. does work for me though. I was watching those rescue copters on the news as you were taking this one. I was initially planning on backpacking on Hood this week, but didn't want to accidently get involved in all the search-rescue opps.

I would spend a little more time processing this. That dark area on the top of the hill on the right needs to be fixed. It is a cool prespective and I like how you captured thise copters.

Rick, while you are probably slaving away at work, I had a few moments on my hands so I stole your image and re-worked it. This eliminates halos and I think more accurately represents the light levels and emphasizes the mountain. Let me know what you think.

Cool. Thanks for the feedback. The dark shadows on the left hillside in the sunlight...is actually a real shadow, not like my poor blending on the right side.
My shadow/highlight did make the trees look nasty~bad. I was trying to etch out some more detail...but after looking at Marc's edit...it doesn't need a whole lot of detail. I appreciate the help...but not the fact that I have to slave away during the day at the desk job Sure, Marc...just rub it in
