Hello All. It's been a long time since I posted anything here. This is from a recent trip last weekend to a place outside of Amboy and Canyon Creek labeled "West Point" on my GPS software.

I was taking some pics of smoke rising in the distance between two silhouetted tree trunks, but then the sun started to set giving a very blue/orange color scheme to the landscape. I ended up with PLENTY of pics I am happy with, so you will see more from this trip I am sure.

The shot is PP merge of 3 exposures at 42mm (28 x 1.5) using my 28-105mm f3.5/4.5 ED lens on my D70. All three exposures were at f20. I know my blending isn't as smooth as it could be because I decided to not worry about tracing the leaves and such which leave a very flat image. I instead just went with more simple gradation for a bit darker, hopefully more dramatic image. Any comments and critiques are welcome. Thanks.

It's a tad on the small side but from what I can see it's beautiful. Love the light and what looks like a curvy, snow covered road down there. Great job!

A difficult spot to find a strong composition, but this works pretty good. I'd like to see the top half just a bit brighter overall.

Very nice, I love the golden light on the snow.

Thanks guys. I have never really been in a place with my camera just as the light turns just right thus far as a photographer, so when, as I was composing a shot, the landscape all the sudden turned golden with bright blue skies (away from the sun) I had my first experience in over 7 years of feeling like I was actually in the right place at the right time. Even if I didn't pull off the perfect shot, that feeling alone was worth it, just knowing that I was there when potentially great shots could be had, and knowing that I have the ability to use the light to my advantage.

If there is a way to edit my image link in the post I can get a larger one here for you guys, but it seems that it only lets me edit my text.
