I have a friend who has one of these lenses. He want to sell it. He has been told that they are quite rare ( I am Nikon guy so I am not familiar with this lens) and the Canon shooters are really looking for this lens. There is one for sale on EBAY for 4000.00 but we have seen them as low as 1149.95. Big difference!
Can any one help with some advice on the real value of this lens?
Thanks
Jack

They were all the rage a year ago, when Contax stopped lens production. They are probably the very best wide angle lens available for a 35mm body, and certainly beat out all Canon's offerings (don't know Nikon).
If it is mint condition, and especially if he still has the box, caps, etc, or the metal hood....don't let it go for under $3500.
Best to check the alternative digital systems and lenses forum at Fred Miranda (www.fredmiranda.com) where they are very much into this particular lens. They buy/sell forum board at that website is the hottest place online to move equipment. good place.
