The luminous quality to the light yesterday morning was just incredible. I met two photographers from Russelville at the Roost, and we were all taken by how beautiful this scene was to witness. There was a light fog just below the arch that literally made the trees glow once the sun got up. And the valley below was covered in a thick blanket - oh my gosh, it was just unreal!
My intent here was to emphasize the light in the trees below, more than to show the complete arch, so this image has been slightly cropped. Hope you enjoy...
Merry Christmas to all - but especially Tim Ernst. If he hadn't let the rest of us know about this unique, and very scenic place, I'd never have had the opportunity to experience, or photograph it...
I just noticed this, but does anyone else see the head of a buzzard in the upper right part of the frame?

Great shot Bill, I really like the light and the way the scene glows in the trees. I almost drove over there yesterday but decided to stay closer to home.

Bill, I love the quality of the light you've captured here, just beautiful. The glow in the fog adds a very nice element to this scene. I also like the fact you left a little open space at UL so we know that this is an arch and you're not looking out of a cave. Very well executed shot and a nice reward for the effort to get there!

Thanks, Tom and Wayne. The Buzzard Roost turtle rock area is really cool too. In fact, I think I'll head back there tomorrow and shoot some B&W comps that I scouted a couple of days ago.

Nice job, Bill - I'll make it there one of these days. Nice job capturing detail in what must have been a very dark foreground.
