A secret favorite
When I go through my shots from central Oregon from this last summer, I always stop and look at this one. For some reason I'm always attracted to it. I know alot of rules are broken with this shot but for some reason I like it. It was taken on the Metolius River. I guess it's archive time.

Keep breaking the rules my friend, this is a compelling image.

Yeah, Erik, it is archive time... who can get out in this weather except Marc and a few others?
Oh, rules, rules. This is great. I like the 'baby' tree in all its freshness contrasting with the mature trees behind it. The ground is all NW tangly. The light is sublime. The only small annoyance (picky, but I noticed it) is the white snag across the river in the BG. Otherwise the BG has wonderful color and keeps the viewer within the frame. I say go and break some more rules. It's fun and turns up some unexpected pleasures, yes?

I have some images too, that hold appeal mostly to me. This one isn't particularly speaking to me...but knowing your history with the Metolius, I am sure this is a memory image for you.

Thanks folks,
Yes, this is probably my favorite place on Earth. It brings back memories of those warm summer evenings I have experienced here for the last 25 years. I agree probably not an image I would print but hey, it's something to post. Oh, and a couple of the broken rules are the bright distracting river, and the clutter of branches in the lower right. Still, I like it!

I like it. I always thought rules (at least in art) are there to be broken. The image gives one a sense of place. Looks like a nice area.

The soft light on the tree trunks is very nice. I wish they were isolated a bit more here.
