Hello folks - I am new to NPN and new to digital. I am in need of advice about purchasing a slide scanner to convert my many Velvia shots so I can post them online, etc.

Anyone have any recommendations? I am using a PC/Windows and have photoshop. I have been looking at the Nikon Coolscans...

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Paige,

I am on my second Nikon Coolscan film scanner. I used the Nikon Coolscan IV with much success. I wanted to use more of the capability of the film, so I bought a Nikon Coolscan 5000 ED. I like it a lot more than the Coolscan IV, but that all depends on what you want to do with it. I use it in conjunction with Photoshop and save the scans in Autoshot .PSD format. I shoot with a Canon camera nad scan with a Nikon Coolscan. Go figure!

Good luck!

I also have the Coolscan V ED and would highly recommend it for 35mm slides.

I have the Coolscan V and it is currently for sale. Send me an e-mail if you are interested.

I use my Nikon Coolscan V to put images onto the CDs that I submit to the magazine I write for. Quality/value is excellent.

I purchased the Coolscan 9000 ED to take care of my MF as well as 35mm. I couldn't be happier. I'm actually now taking more film than digital with the exception of shots which I know will never ever get bigger than 12x16. One drawback is the size of the files....greater than 200MB for a single 120x120. I like large enlargements and have never regretted the investment. Good luck.
