Oceanside Beach Last Night
This is another shot from the last day of 2006. I waded thru some channels to be on this rock off the short a bit to get something if sunset happened. It didn't. But I turned to the North and this composition was waiting for me.

John, This is where I grew up....I spent countless hours photographing these beaches and for the most part, the weather never works for ya.....its just too cloudy there....

I like the movement of the water you have here but I think there may be a little too much at the bottom...maybe a crop up to the 2nd starfish....bump up the brightness a bit, this seems a tad dark...

Hope you enjoyed your time down there...I need to get back but not till spring!!!

John, I like this a lot. It's west coast perfect, IMO: rugged, moody, wild. I detect a 'whiff' of sunset glow throughout the image, especially on the haystack and the rock below it, the cliff to the right and in the tide pool area. The detail is great as is the movement of the water. Perhaps a little brightening, but it would be too easy to lose the effect, the look and feel, you have captured so well here. :toast:

A nice moody coastal image. For some reason, I find the starfish a bit distracting from the image and like it better with them and that part of the foreground cropped out, but that's just me, and I'm known to sometimes have an odd view on things (I keep people off balance that way). I really dig the photo with the bottom 1/3 cropped out.

Ryan, I see what you are thinking and I like it that way also... I also was feeling the bottom 25% was too much but really liked the starfish (even though it's too centered). Thanks for the feedback (to Catherine and Darren also)....

Yeah, crop above the starfish, but this is a nice scene. I actually like the color and texture in the foremost water.
