I was headed out Tuesday morning to hike into Hemmed In Hollow when I decided to run on down to the Boxley Valley to see if the Swans had returned. They weren't there when I arived and after a while I figured it was just not going to happen so I loaded up the vehicle and headed down the valley. After a couple of miles I just happened to look up and much to my joy I saw two swans winging their way back towards the pond. Well I don't exactly know the turning radius of the Honda Pilot but lets' say I was pushing the engineering envelope as I did a 180 and headed south back down the valley.
It was good to see the Swans return. I've included a link to one of the photos.
I also got to see Bill Dark again. No wonder your battery went dead on you, you were out early and late. I aspire to such dedication!
This is really a great photograph Rod. Maybe not as much color as Tim's afternoon version, but I know how difficult it is in the morning to get the exposure right without clipping the highlights and you've done well! The frosty grasses in the bg are a really nice touch too. Great work.
It was good to see you again, and thanks for posting - hope to see more!

Nice shot, Rod. It almost looks like the swan is a choir director. I like the frosted grass in the background as well. Thanks for posting!
Holy Cow Rod, you raced the swans through Boxley in a Honda? Now that is what nature photography is all about!

Rod, great moment you've captured here. In addition to the other comments, I like the very subtle color in this, nearly b/w but not quite. Well done indeed!
