Well, I know the painted hills beg to be displayed in color, but in this abstract shot I felt the color distracted from the lines. Its a little different. I guess you'll let me know if it is interesting or not.

The dark lines really keep my eyes moving around the fame . It almost has an optical illusion look to it. I like it.

I think it's cool if you know what you are looking at. I like it, but I like the challenge even more: Photo the Painted Hills in Black and White! That ought to be fun.
Hey everyone, keep that in mind when you're done there this year. Do your thing, but then do a thing in B&W also.
This might be fun.
I'm glad you like it (Erik, Rick, Mark). I think to someone not familar with the Painted hills might not see it in quite the same way, but the lines and the patterns might still be interesting. I've been playing around with a couple other painted hills shots. I share them when I'm done.
Here's another from the Painted Hills I thought was interesting in b&w

Ryan,
I like the second one a lot more than the first. You've really got a nice tonal range in the second. Maybe I'm just not an abstract mood today; the second sure isn't extract.

The second one is a great graphic shot, Ryan!

I'm with Mark - the first one was pretty good but the second one is wonderful! I'm feeling like a broken record, Ryan, but this one should go over to the TPN side too!

The first one is certainly interesting patterns but I find myself wanting a bit more contrast. The second one is awesome!! I'm loving the B&W treatment and the clouds REALLY make this image sing!!
Groovy!!

Looks like many folks like the second image and because of ist sharpness and contrast, I can see why. But as I am into patterns and textures, the first presents some possibilities. What about a sepia treatment?
