Why?

Maybe Canon UK have got fed up showing off their products to customers who buy them from abroad.

Or maybe they don't want their stand to be filled with irate dealers demanding to know when they are going to get their promised consignment of X,Y or Z.

Nope, 'fraid it's their professed new policy to concentrate on smaller, more local, events - such as at the retailers shops - I guess they'll be concentrating more on the consumer grade stuff such as P&Shoots and printers. Was mentioned in some interview in the EOS Mag a couple of issues back.

Can't particularly say I think it's a good policy as it makes it harder to see and 'play' with any kit you might want to buy from their local resellers...esp. given that most don't stock things like the 300/400/500/600's. At Focus a few years ago I was able to try out the 400/2.8, 500/4 and 600/4 on the Canon stand and that helped me make a decision to buy the 500/4...where could I do that now??

What a mistake... I suppose they reason that most turning up at such a show will have already bought into a camera make... but I want to see the lenses and hear the future developments...

Canon will not disclose future developments at shows such as Focus. If they have a new product coming to market they will announce it at either Photokina for Europe or PMA in the States. As PMA is so soon after Focus they will make any announcements there instead. Focus is more about the print and related industry and Photokina is geared more towards the photography industry.

Mistake in my mind but there you go, seems a bit like not taking your pedigree to crufts
