Target of opportunity whilst waitng for Shore Lark to move closer, should've replaced the 2x with a 1.4x for this.
Taken at Salthouse just before xmas.
Canon 1Ds MkII + 600mm + 2x
1/250 @ f9 ISO400

This is nice, I love the angle and the way it fill the frame. It may need a tad of CCW rotation.

Fantastic shot andy. Great dof, great composition, I love the stone background and impessive quality from the 2x, as mentioned just a slight ccw rotation.

Thanks all. And a big thank you for confirming the ccw rotate needed. I've been looking at that aspect on this photo for a while and scratching my head as to whether it was worth doing.

I've been very impressed by the Canon 2x and have used it a fair bit, but know it's not a habit I should get too attached to. After going from Nikon 1.5x crop to Canon full-frame, the 2x is somewhat enticing to get the same view as I used to get with my old combo.

cheers,
Andy

Hi Andy,
Lovely shot, with impressive sharpness for a 2x TC.
Just before Christmas I went to Kidwelly in west Wales, where I met a guy using your old Nikon 600mm! Bryan something? Worked well on that Manfrotto 393 head.

Thanks Jeremy.

Ah yes, Brian Rees, if I remember correctly, nice chap... so the lens was still working then? I did feel a bit guilty with that as I put it up on UKNP for £3k, may have even accepted £2.8k, he ended up paying £3.6k on ebay, which was way over the top for that model.

cheers,
Andy

Really nice shot Andy. Big in the frame and great colours. :toast: :toast:

re. Ebay, never feel guilty there....you're not pointing a gun at folks' heads and telling them to buy (least I hope not  )

Cheers, John.
I don't feel as guilty over that as I do over that thrashed out but pretty Nikon 300/2.8 VR I managed to off-load on some poor guy from Yorkshire, Nikon engineer said it only had 3 months left to go before the AF-S motors packed-up.

Only kidding John G

Hi Andy,

Sort out the mentioned rotation and you'll make an excellent image an outstanding one.

Good Work

Great shot Andy. This looks really nice and wouldn't make too much difference with the 1.4x as the tightness doesn't bother me.

Hi Andy,

Tightness doesn't worry me either - a shot I'd love to have taken.
