Can someone please tell me the difference??

I know the 14E II fits both the Nikon 500 mm and the 200-400 VR - but will the TC 14e also fit both?

Thanks - Sandy

Well, here's a pretty controversial topic, LOL! Seriously though, as I recall the TC 14e will autofocus on "S" lenses only, and the TC 14e2 will autofocus on "S" lenses only. Supposedly both support VR function. Note that the list of lenses either of these will support is pretty limited. The two you list can be used with either.

From what I've read when I looked into them a couple of years ago, they are the same. The older one is a tad better constructed, the newer one (E II) has a different paint finish to match the newer lenses.

If you are trying to put a 1.4x on a non-"S" lens, Nikon doesn't make one. You have to buy the Kenko/Tamron SP. (Kenko makes the SP for Tamron, BTW.)

Sandy,

Check this link out, it may help.
Appears the TC14e is compatible with the lens you listed.

Sandy,

Just to confirm, I own and use both models interchangably on any AF-S or AF-I lens. It should maintain AF on any lens AF-S or AF-I lens that is F/4 or faster. I use it on f/2.8's.

Unless I look close I can't tell the difference and there is no difference in image quality with either one. The II model is a tiny bit lighter.
